Nacon announced the Revolution 5 Unlimited (R5U) on October 2, a high-end PS5 and PC controller with a built-in screen for changing settings mid-game, at a suggested price of €199.99 / $229.99 / £179.99.

The company's own press release, issued October 2, 2026, says pre-orders opened that day at nacongaming.com and calls the screen a world first for an officially licensed PS5 controller. The release describes the product as an "upcoming release" and gives no ship date.

What Nacon says it is

According to the Nacon release and coverage from PSU and Yanko Design, the screen lets players adjust audio mix, stick sensitivity, shortcut mapping and system settings without leaving the game. Yanko Design describes the display as monochrome. Screen size is not given in any source we checked.

Other reported features:

  • Sticks: magnetic TMR (tunnelling magnetoresistance) sticks, per PSU and Yanko Design, which also reports interchangeable stick heads, weights and travel rings.
  • Buttons and triggers: micro-switch action buttons and several remappable shortcut buttons, per PSU. Trigger blockers switch the triggers from an analogue pull to a short click, per Yanko Design and The Shortcut.
  • Dock and case: a charging dock and storage case are included, per PSU. Nacon says the dock is a first for one of its licensed PS5 pads.
  • Connectivity: Yanko Design lists dongle, cable or wireless. Nacon's release cites 1 ms latency in PC mode, a manufacturer claim, and notes PC use is "not tested or endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment." We found no source that confirms Bluetooth by name.
  • Battery life: not stated in the Nacon release or in any of the articles we read.

R5U versus the DualSense Edge, on paper

The Shortcut puts Sony's DualSense Edge at $199.99, making the R5U $30 more. Everything below comes from published sources; neither controller has been tested by BlitzRig.

Nacon R5U Sony DualSense Edge
Price $229.99 (Nacon) $199.99 (The Shortcut)
Sticks TMR magnetic (PSU, Yanko Design) Potentiometer, swappable modules (our review)
On-pad screen Yes (Nacon) No
Battery life Not published Reviewers reported roughly 5 to 7 hours (our review)
In the box Dock, storage case (PSU) Carry case, braided cable (our review)

The sticks and the battery are the interesting rows. Our review notes the Edge still uses potentiometer sticks, the technology behind most drift complaints, with a battery that reviewers found short. The R5U switches to TMR, which Nacon says improves reliability and cuts power use. That is a claim, not a result, and Nacon has published no runtime to back it. The Shortcut notes that the previous Revolution 5 Pro scored 4/5 in its 2024 review, which says something about the lineage but nothing about this unit.

The Edge keeps Sony's own haptics and adaptive triggers, and the R5U is a licensed third-party pad. How closely it matches those features is not covered in what we read. The R5U's PC support is also unendorsed by Sony, so expect no official guarantee there. If the Edge is what you are weighing, our deal watch summarizes published price reports for it, and our PS5 Pro desk setup guide covers the rest of a console desk.

Where the sources disagree

The date and availability are where reports get messy. The details:

  • Price: consistent in USD across the Nacon release, PSU, Yanko Design and The Shortcut. Traxion lists £179.99 / €199.99 / $229.99 in line with Nacon; PSU quotes only $229.99 and £179.99.
  • Availability: PSU's headline says pre-orders, but its text says "available from today." Nacon's release says pre-order.
  • Ship date: Yanko Design says shipping is "scheduled by October 21, 2026." Nacon's release gives none. Traxion's original text said Q4 2024, which editor Martin Bigg corrected to 2026 in a reply to a reader comment, so treat that as a typo. A search snippet from a third-party site also gave October 28, which we could not verify.

Nacon's own US store page, checked October 26, 2026, lists the controller at $229.90 (about $0.08 of which is an eco-part fee), marked "In stock" with an Add to Cart button and "shipping within 48H-72H." Its specification list gives a release date of 10/28/26, so the stock label and the release date do not obviously line up. The October 21 date from Yanko Design has passed without any confirmation, and we would treat October 28 as the date to watch. Nacon's page also gives no battery figure, and we will update this piece if it adds one.
